Project CIGDROP
Initiated by Connecting Dreams Foundation – Hansraj and Mata Sundri Chapter
in collaboration with Code Effort aims at minimising cigarette litter by assembling cigarette butts in a bin and recycling it. The team visited the farm of Code Effort recently, where they observed the process of cigarette turning into a recycled product.
Cigarette butt are disintegrated into three parts: Polymer, Leftover tobacco & paper, and Fly ash.
>The polymer will be used in the air purification system.
>The waste water generated from this process will also be treated to reduce the carbon footprint.
>The leftover tobacco & paper is recycled to produce mosquito repellents, cushions, soft toys, handicrafts, etc.
>The fly-ash will be sent to storage.
The main focus of the Project is treatment of cigarette waste whereby every component is utilized to make a usable end product. The recycling of the stubs has not only prevented water contamination but also helped to curb soil pollution.
