Around 100 million people reside in rural suburbs and rely primarily on village pharmacies for healthcare guidance. Every day, thousands of people risk their lives by seeking advice from these village medics, who are frequently untrained. The main reason people sought counsel from these village medics was that hospitals were far away and specialist doctors were not readily available. Furthermore, pharmacies in rural areas are not up to date in terms of providing immediate emergency assistance. This country’s rural population has long been underserved in terms of healthcare. Furthermore, because city doctors are unwilling to travel to the village.
Tafsir Ony, the co-founder of Sustho.xyz, along with his college friends formulated the stratagem for bettering the low level of medical facilities accessible by the rural people. He believes that healthcare is something that should be accessible to the whole population of Bangladesh. Further, Sustho.xyz works for generating the bare minimum amount of revenues which is used for providing healthcare services to the rural people. One of the recent instances according to Tafsir was when they scheduled a video chat health consulting of a 50+ years old man who otherwise would not have got the correct guidance via local authorities.
One of the major problems in the rural areas of Bangladesh is that the pharmacy stores there refuse to provide drugs to local people without proper doctor’s prescription which should ideally be a good thing but on the contrary, there are not a lot of government hospitals set up in the rural areas with an all-time availability of doctors. To target the issue Sustho.xyz has collaborated with a few local pharmacy stores which provide medicines by considering an online doctor’s consultation as the basis. Sustho application is a complete package of healthcare where rural area people especially mothers & children can get health facilities easily from Sustho Patient point through technology. It also has a City part which includes Medicine Order, Doctor Appointment, Diagnostic center. They even have a free Health Forum. It actually is a total health system in one mere application.
