Detailed Description:

"Chhavi Yadav witnessed a terrible incident as a child which led to a drastic change in her life and her perspective towards society. Chhavi’s mom devoted most of her time to household chores and upbringing her children, as is the case with other women in their village, until one day when Chhavi’s father passed away. The family received little help till Chhavi’s uncle stepped up to set up a small shop which became their source of income and sustenance. Owing to this incident, she has always felt a strong need for women to be self-reliant and educated. And so, Chavvi and her team of classmates started visiting households to convince women to be part of her initiative to reach a goal of educating 25 women in basic Hindi, English and math providing them with permanent employment to attain self-sustenance. Chhavi also ensured that all the women are employed in permanent jobs depending on their existing skills. While one has started stitching clothes and earns INR 150 per piece, the other works in the nearby hospital as part of the cleaning staff and earns INR 2000/month. Some of them produce small items at home such as bead necklaces or packing items being paid on the basis of per piece from production units."
