At Connecting Dreams Foundation, we empower young people to become environmental stewards and tackle climate challenges head-on. Through our programs, young Changemakers design and implement innovative solutions that promote sustainability and contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 13: Climate Action. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOAL 13 - CLIMATE ACTION

Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing our planet today. Rising global temperatures, extreme weather events, and rising sea levels threaten our environment, communities, and economies.

The Challenge:

  • Global average temperature has already increased by 1°C since pre-industrial times.
  • The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns that exceeding 1.5°C of warming will significantly worsen climate impacts.
  • In 2020 alone, extreme weather events caused $170 billion in economic losses and displaced millions of people.

The Goal:

The UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 calls for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts. This includes:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions to achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
  • Building resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters.
  • Integrating climate change measures into national policies, strategies, and planning.
  • Mobilizing financial resources to effectively address climate change.

Project CIGDROP
Multiple Colleges, Delhi NCR

Project Cigdrop initiated its journey by setting up cigarette buds collecting binds across the university campus. The Buds were then recycled to make stuff toys, mattresses etc and in turn generated income for the underprivileged women groups

Project Arpan

About 80 lakh metric tonnes of flowers are disposed in Ganga every year and when these generous offerings turn into colossal waste, it creates a problem that is detrimental to our environment. ESSCENT by ARPAN aims to revolutionize this practice through the production of premium flower-based incense sticks and incense cones. The product is 100% Charcoal free, available in 9 fragrances and is hand-rolled by specially-abled people and rural women, hence giving them an increased source of income.

Project Saksham
Multiple Colleges, Delhi and Mumbai

This innovative approach addressed two crucial issues: environmental sustainability and economic empowerment. By focusing on sustainable production, the project fostered the creation of eco-friendly alternatives, reducing reliance on harmful or disposable products. This shift minimizes environmental impact while empowering women with valuable entrepreneurial skills. The project didn't just equip them with skills, it also aimed to increase their reach for employment opportunities within the sustainable product market.

Project Kaavish

Project Kaavish empowers underprivileged women by equipping them with skills to create sustainable products and reduce environmental impact. They train women in Okhla to stitch reusable masks, diverting waste from landfills caused by disposable masks. Future plans include introducing other reusable products, promoting a circular economy and a shift away from single-use items.

Project Re-Soil

Recognizing the environmental impact of improper waste management, The Re-Soil Project took a proactive approach. It aimed to tackle the issue at its root cause - household waste generation. By encouraging residents to segregate their waste and compost biodegradable materials locally, the project promoted a more sustainable waste management strategy. This approach reduced the burden on landfills and fostered a closed-loop system where organic waste could be transformed into a valuable resource for soil health.

Agro Rangers

Siddhesh founded "Agro Rangers" to promote regenerative organic farming that improves soil health by renewing cultivation methods and optimizing issues with technological intervention

The Earth Friendly

This initiative, introduced by Ubaida, provided a market for the use of biodegradable disposable packaging items to substitute plastics especially for food, drinks and grocery items. The aim of this project was to reduce drain blockages and environmental pollution from burning plastics.

Pearl Medical

Pearl Medical, a health technology startup, works in hospital waste management by using innovative technologies such as solar powered pearl incinerators which detoxifies and destroys hospital waste, making it safe for the environment

AgroZee Organics

AgroZee Organics champions a sustainable and health-focused approach to agriculture. They source millets, a climate resilient crop, requiring minimum water from small scale famers in Maharashtra and beyond. They promote a solution that tackles malnutrition and iron deficiency while fostering environmental friendly practices.

Harvesting Innovation Hackathon

The HIH focus is jointly organized initiative by the GIZ India, Bankers Institute of Rural Development (BIRD) and Connecting Dreams Foundation. It focuses on finding solutions to problems like unpredictable weather patterns, rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, technology gaps, inefficient irrigation practices etc.
